Basement Remodel Part Two: Seal and Paint Walls

More progress has been made on the basement remodel! I sealed and primed all of the walls!

One of the corners had a small leak. We're not talking about major flooding; just a snake of water whenever we would get a heavy rain. We picked up some Drylok Fast Plug Hydraulic Cement and put a couple of coats on the problem spot. It was amazing what a difference it made. We have had a few big storms and the basement stayed completely dry!

Once that problem was taken care of, I primed all of the walls with Drylok Masonry Waterproofer just to make sure that the old leaks were sealed and to prevent any new leaks. You can apply it with a brush or roller. I think that the brush is easier to use if you are painting cement block though.

Once the walls were all sealed and primed it was time to put on the lime green color! It is actually "New Green" by Behr #420B-6. I love how bright and happy it is! It almost makes me forget that there isn't any natural light! In case you have forgotten, this is what we started out with:

Such a huge difference already! I can't wait to see what it is going to look like when it is all finished.
Basement Remodel Checklist:
paint ceiling
replace light fixtures
seal leaks
prime walls
paint walls
finish floor
stop drafts
build wall around fuse box
paint new wall
build backs for stairs
paint stairs
install light fixture at top of stairs
paint stairwell
box in the floor jacks
repair one of the floor joists
move everything back downstairs
There is still a lot left to be done (including doing all of this again in the other half of the basement) but we have accomplished quite a bit so far and it has already made a huge difference!

I noticed that you didn't put up any studs or any insulation in your basement. Do you have any issues with the cold?
