5 Minute No-Slip Dish Towel

I saw Cute As A Fox's idea for this no-fall dishtowel over on Curbly a few months ago and thought that it was a brilliant idea! Every fracking time I open the oven, my dish towel falls on the floor. Not cool. 

I changed the tutorial up a bit to make this project even easier and give it cleaner lines because those ruffles/pleats/whatchamacallits just aren't my thing. This modification made this a super quick and easy 5-minute-project! Seriously, it took me five times longer to edit the photos and write this post than it did to make the dish towel itself.

Start with a cute dish towel, pot holder, and button. Just pretend that you see the button in this pic, m'kay? I found my towel at Walmart and the pot holder came from Dollar Tree awhile back. The button was just laying around in my stash. 

Wow. I am having a really hard time focusing today. After writing the part above, all I could think of was the fact that I wrote pot (holder) and stash in the same paragraph. Yep. My mind just went there. Moving on...

Fold your towel into thirds the long way so that it is the same width as your pot holder. Mine was already folded to the perfect size so I just left it the way it was. If you have to fold your own, you might want to press the sides with a warm iron so that everything stays in place.

Find the middle of your towel and mark a line down the center. You could use some kind of washable fabric pencil or chalk but I figured that no one will ever see that part so I just used a pen. Mark the center of your pot holder as well (make sure that the loop is on the left or right side and not at the top of your line. 

Line up your markings with the towel on top of the pot holder. Sew along the line that you marked and back stitch the ends to keep your stitches from unraveling.

Sew a button on the front center of the pot holder side with no loop. You will want a big button so that the loop has something to hold on to but not so big that the button won't go through the loop. My button is about 1 1/8" in diameter and fits perfectly through my pot holder loop.

Slide your pot holder through the handle on your oven with the loop in the back. Pull the loop over the handle and secure around the button.

Ta Da! Cute AND functional! It says, "Yes, I'm pretty, but hello, I'm smart." Can anyone name that show? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Okay...I should probably cut back on the coffee...
