Bulletin Board Jewelry Organizer

My jewelry box doesn't work very well for necklaces so today I decided to make my own jewelry organizer using a bulletin board from Dollar Tree!

SUPPLIES:
Bulletin Board (I got mine at Dollar Tree)
Scrap piece of fabric large enough to cover the board
Paint
Mod Podge (or your adhesive of choice)
Foam Brushes

First, I sanded down the frame of the board. Make sure that you do a thorough job and sand through the glossy finish, otherwise your paint won't want to stick.

Next, I painted the frame with a black acrylic paint using a foam brush (you could also spray paint it). Once that was dry, I put on a coat of Mod Podge to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish.

I then cut my fabric to the size of the corkboard plus a 1/4 inch on every side. I put a coat of Mod Podge onto the cork, pressed my fabric onto it, and used a butter knife to push the excess fabric under the frame.

Finally, I used some straight pins to hang my necklaces and pendants on the board!

You can also customize this a variety of ways to fit your style including using solid colored fabric and decopaging the frame instead of painting it.

I've seen these jewelry organizers before using frames, but I think using those small dollar store bulletin boards is a better idea! I think I might have to make some of these for Christmas gifts.

Ha! I absolutely love this! Great minds really DO think alike! Isn't it amazing how two people can do something similar, but each turns out with a twist? Great job!

Great idea do you hang them on the wall? Great grandma gifts for Birthdays and Christmas.

I love this! My daughter (age 12) and I have a horrible time with our necklaces. I think this may be the perfect solution.

I love your blog!
