Taco Pizza

I have a thing for the taco pizza from Casey's but I am too cheap to buy it very often. So I learned to make it myself! It tastes just as good and it is pretty easy to make too. I actually like it even better because when you order a taco pizza they put all of the toppings on at once so the leftovers have soggy chips and slimy lettuce. When I make it myself I can just put toppings on the pieces I am going to eat right then.

Taco Pizza

Ingredients:
Pizza Dough (recipe here)
1 cup Black Refried Beans
1 cup Taco Sauce
1/2 lb Ground Beef
1 Tablespoon Taco Seasoning (recipe here)
8oz Cheddar Jack Cheese, shredded
Lettuce, shredded
Tomatoes, diced
Nacho Cheese Doritos (snack size bag)

Mix together your dough and set aside to rise for 1-1 1/2 hours.

Place baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 425F.

Crumble ground beef in a large skillet and sprinkle with taco seasoning. Cook until browned and no longer pink in the middle. Drain. Mix with additional taco seasoning to taste. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, mix refried beans and taco sauce until well combined. Set aside.

Turn pizza dough onto lightly floured surface. Divide dough in half. Return one half to the bowl and roll the other half to the size of your baking sheet. Press onto hot baking sheet. Top with half of the taco sauce mixture. Bake at 425F for 5 minutes.

Top with half of the ground beef and half of the cheese. Return to oven and bake for another 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

Repeat with second pizza.

Top the pieces that you are ready to eat with lettuce, tomatoes, and crushed nacho cheese chips. Store leftover pizza and topping separately.

Makes: Two Medium Pizzas
