After slacking on my gift making the last couple of weeks, I finally finished one!
Okay so technically this is a gift for myself but it still counts right?
I found the recipe at The Idea Room. I mixed it up in a jar that I had picked up from Dollar Tree, glued a label onto some Christmas scrapbooking paper, and tied on a ribbon. Fast, easy and I already had everything on hand so it was free! This scrub works great and it is moisturizing too!
Brown Sugar Scrub:
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Honey
While the olive oil is really moisturizing, the scent isn't the most appealing. Next time I might try this recipe that I found at Tipnut that uses almond oil:
Brown Sugar Scrub #2:
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Almond Oil
1/4 cup Liquid Ivory Hand Soap
1/4 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Honey

The brown sugar part sounds soooo yummy, but yes, the olive oil is so pungent that the scent could be a bit overwhelming. Hmm, do you know where to find almond oil? Now that with brown sugar sounds like a winner! Thanks for the idea Megan!
Ditto to vicky about the yummy feelings that were brought to my mind when reading brown sugar in an exfoliating full body scrub...I actually tried something like this at this one massage spa in nyc and loved the smell...Now I can try to make it myself.. Thanks :)
another great natural oil to use for these types of scrubs (and all sort of other home beauty recipes) is coconut oil...smells yummy and is super moisturizing!!! =)
