Pallet Wood Christmas Countdown

In December little kids (and overgrown ones) often start every day by asking how many more until Christmas. So it can be helpful to have a countdown calendar so you don't have to calculate it every morning. This pallet wood countdown goes perfectly with rustic Christmas decor. Even if you don't want to make a countdown, this tutorial can be helpful to make other pallet wood signs.
Start by printing out your lettering. You can download the pdf for mine here. The lettering is sized to fit a board 19" wide x 5" tall. If you want to make your own with the same font, I used Linowrite for "Days till" and Lobster for "Christmas".

Place your lettering how you want it laid out with Graphite Transfer Paper underneath. Use a pen to trace around the letters.

Once you are done tracing, remove the papers and use a small paint brush and black acrylic paint to fill in the lettering.

Let the paint dry then flip it over to add your hanger. Mark two dots 4" in from each side and 1" down from the top. Screw small wood screws in part way. Tie some hemp twine around each one then screw them down the rest of the way.

Turn back to the front and use Gorilla Wood Glue to attach a 2"x3" Chalkboard. Add a small homespun bow if you want to dress it up a little.
