Nightmare Before Christmas Birthday Party

This is the last post about Jer's birthday party, I promise! Sorry if I have bored you with these. I just wanted to document as much of it as possible for anyone looking for inspiration for their own Nightmare Before Christmas birthday party. I searched all over the place for ideas and couldn't find anything except for some amazing cakes that I could never reproduce and the suggestion to put out all of your Halloween decorations.

So here is what I came up with:

Custom Party Hats

I promise I will get back to posting about something other than kid's birthday parties soon! But for now, here is another party project. Obviously Nightmare Before Christmas party hats are impossible to find but I even tried the over the hill section at the party store looking for plain black ones and came up with nothing. So I decided to just make my own!

I took a party hat I already had, opened it up and traced around it to get my pattern.

Zero the Ghost Dog

Check out my updated tutorial with pattern and photos HERE.

While looking at the invites for Jeremy's party, my husband jokingly suggested that I make a "Zero" decoration. I couldn't get the idea out of my head so I finally decided to give it a try and came up with this:

Italian Sausage Lasagna

I have tried several different lasagna recipes but was never quite happy with any of them. So one day I decided to come up with my own and it turned out to be the Best Lasagna EVER! If I do say so myself. ;) Seriously though, this lasagna never lasts long in our house because it is so addicting. You have been warned.

Birthday Banner & Utencil Holders

Jeremy's birthday party is in ten days! Eek! I am so excited for him and can't wait to see what he thinks of his party. Things are really starting to come together but there is still so much to do!

I made a "Happy Birthday" banner using the same basic method as my Christmas banner. Although, this time instead of adding the glitter myself, I used glittered scrapbook paper that I picked up at awhile back.

I'm not really sure how appropriate glitter is for a boy's birthday but I think it looks pretty cool!

Superhero Cape

Today my SuperJeremy finally got his first real cape! No more bath towel capes for this boy. He is flying in style now!

I don't have any photos of the process because my camera is lame and won't hold a charge. It was pretty easy to do though and it was all from scraps of stuff I had laying around.

Above Cabinet Decoration

To fill up the space above the cabinets, we chose something pretty and practical.

These cocktail glasses were $1 each at Dollar Tree. We entertain a lot so it is handy to have extra glasses and by putting them above the cabinets they add decoration and don't take up cabinet space.

To make them sparkle, we lit them up from behind with rope lights.

Now I Know My ABC's...

Today I started working with Jeremy on letter recognition. Here are a few projects I made to help him along.

First, is an incentive chart!

Jeremy's 1st Birthday Party

I am starting to get ready for Jeremy's 4th birthday party that is coming up in a few weeks and it got me thinking about his first birthday party so I thought I would share it with you! It was a jungle safari theme.

Jeremy's smash cake

For the guests, we had one white cake, one yellow cake, and chocolate monkey cupcakes.

School Room

Things have been a bit crazy around here as you may have guessed from the lack of posts this last month! I am back to working on things around the house though and hopefully I will have a bunch projects to show you over the next few weeks!

The first project I have to show you is Jeremy's school room! Since we are going to homeschool, we thought it would be nice to have a room just for doing school work to give him a little more structure and routine. It will also give him a place to leave projects out instead of having to clean them off of the dining table every evening.
