Oven Baked Bacon

Cooking bacon in the oven is so much easier and less messy then cooking it in a skillet.  The best part is that you can make large batches at a time while cooking the rest of the meal so everything gets done about the same time and can be served hot.

Oven-Baked Bacon
adapted from Martha Stewart

Preheat oven to 375F.  Line two rimmed baking sheets with aluminum foil.  Lay the bacon strips flat on the foil making sure that no pieces overlap.  Bake about 10-15 minutes to desired doneness, flipping the bacon every five minutes.  Transfer to paper towel lined plates to drain.

"The best part is that you can make large batches at a time" You could have stopped right there! We have some bacon in our freezer from a locally raised, heritage pig. I may have to break it out tonight!

This is the only way my Grandfather would make bacon; so much easier and taste just as good :) In the summer months when I dread turning my oven on, I have actually taken bacon to the grill!

I always do my bacon this way. Just as it begins to crisp I brush it with maple syrup or a sprinkling of brown sugar.

I've been doing this lately! It hasn't been a whole lot cleaner for me, since cooking in the oven brings out way more grease (I end up having to clean out the oven and the pan!), but it's so much easier than cooking on the stove. Plus, it seems to cook the bacon more evenly!

Oh I love that I could do this in the oven. I've done it in the microwave but it just doesn't taste as good. I'll be trying this!!

LOVE this method! Love even more that you don't have the grease mess all over the stovetop & you when you're done!(I do seem to get a lot more grease in the pan, but it doesn't really splatter in my oven). I came across your site on Pinterest where someone had pinned your Slow Cooker Chicken & Dumplings. Tried them today & they were AWESOME!!! My recipe blog is at http://frommomskitchen.blogspot.com/ & I'm always on the lookout for a great new recipe to add to it. This week your Chicken & Dumplings made it on there :) I've found several other recipes here that I can't wait to try! Thanks for sharing!

10-15 mins in oven and yours gets crispy like this? the few times i have done bacon in oven seems like it takes way to much time.

I always bake about 10 pounds of bacon this way for our large family. I keep 1/2 of it in the frog in a zip lock type bag and freeze the other half. I bake mine on a large cooling rack on top of a parchment lined pan. No turning, quick clean up =a happy baconaholic Momma
