My New Craft Room

I think you have all seen my old craft closet by now. About six months ago I mentioned that my crafting area had moved to another room and I am just now getting around to showing you the full reveal. It was often in a state of chaos and I kept hoping that I would find time to get it all organized and decorated. Well, it still needs some fun, colorful decor but at least it is organized! So here we go....
As you can see, this was originally the storage area. We went through everything, got rid of a bunch of stuff and moved the remaining items to another area.

We were left with a dark, dingy area with nasty shelves. My amazing husband, Shelby, ripped out the shelving, ran some electrical, installed an additional light fixture, installed some ceiling tiles, and put up drywall on the left wall.

I painted the cinder block walls with Drylock Masonry Waterproofer to protect against leaking. Then Shelby put in a some carpet and built a crafting counter.

Here it is all finished! Like I said, it definitely needs some color and decorative touches but other than that it is perfect!

My favorite part is this awesome 8 foot countertop. The backsplash was damaged so Shelby was able to pick it up for less than $25! He built the stand for it out of 2x4s.

We picked up some bookshelves from Walmart that fit perfectly along the other wall.

For all of the smaller stuff, I used my favorite organizational tool - plastic shoe boxes!

And my handy dandy labler, of course.
Just like when I organized my power cables, I put everything in snack sized ziploc bags and added labels so that everything is easy to find.

I picked up a couple of these organizers at JoAnn Fabrics for all of my beads.

I already showed in this post how I folded my fabric collection.

All of my magazine clippings and such are organized in three ring binders.

To keep my wrapping paper in place, I put two screws on each side and stretched pieces of string across. This keeps them all contained and upright while still easy to access.

All of our storage bins are now stacked just across from my craft "room".
And now, just to be dramatic, here is the before and after side by side:

What a difference!

Wow! What an amazing difference...love the side by side view! The labeled embellishments is the best...so much easier to find that way. I think I need to go label mine. Your pic inspired me! Thanks for sharing your room.

You are one organized woman, that would take me forever to label it all up. And not to mention your husband is so handy. I only dream of a space like that with a counter like that! Now you must create!
