Ozark Shadows

After going back and forth between colors for months - our living room finally got a coat of paint!

I had considered going with Botanical Tint like we had in our last living room:

But it just didn't look right with all of the woodwork in this house. Then I saw this post from Lil Luna and LOVED how the colors popped against the grayish walls! The other problem I had with the turquoise walls was that I found myself using more white in my decor so that it wasn't competing with the wall color. With a nice neutral wall color though, I can go crazy with the rest of the decor. I still wasn't sure what shade of gray to use until I saw this post from House of Hepworths and I loved the color that she used.

So after five months of going back and forth between colors, I decided to bite the bullet and go with it. I didn't even get the sample size to try it out first. Living in a small town now, we don't make it to the city very often so I figured the time and cost of making a second trip to the store after deciding whether or not I liked the sample size would end up costing as much as just buying a gallon of it to begin with.

I'm glad I went with it! Next time we are in town we are going to buy a second gallon to paint the bathroom and hallway. The original color is Benjamin Moore Ozark Shadows but it has been color matched by Sherwin Williams and lightened by 50%. My paint brand of choice is Behr but the closest carrier is an hour away so I went with House of Hepworths recommendation of Sherwin Williams and I like it as well. It is  a bit pricier though.

The living room feels more like our home now instead of like we are living in someone else's house. The beige wasn't bad, it just wasn't us. In the photo above, you can also see how great the gray looks with the woodwork.

I think the colors pop more against the gray as well. The beige walls seemed to yellow everything and the gray provides a more neutral backdrop:

Now that we have our fresh wall color I can't wait to start decorating and adding some color. Actually, I already started today and will have a fun project to share with you next week! Have a great weekend!

That's beautiful! I'm a fan of grey myself, we painted our living room & bedroom grey and I find it's so much fresher than the brown that it was before!
