Cake Batter Crispy Treats

I know I'm a little behind on the cake batter trend but I don't care. Cake batter is one of the best flavors and I am so happy that it is being incorporated into all kinds of awesome desserts. :) Plus, it means that you get to use sprinkles and everything is more fun with sprinkles!

This recipe is a fun spin on the old rice crispy treats and it tastes great. Next time I might add a little more cake mix to boost the cake batter flavor but I don't know if it would change the consistency of the crispy treats? If you try it, let me know how it turns out.

Cake Batter Crispy Treats
adapted from How Sweet It Is

Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons Butter
10oz Mini Marshmallows
1/4 cup Yellow Cake Mix (dry)
6 cups Crisp Rice Cereal
1.75oz Sprinkles

Melt butter in a large saucepan or dutch oven over low heat. Mix in marshmallows and stir constantly until they are melted. Gradually add cake mix and stir until combined. Remove from heat. Add the crisp rice cereal and stir until coated with marshmallow mixture. Top with half of the sprinkles and mix until evenly distributed. Press into a greased baking dish and top with remaining sprinkles. Let cool for 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
