Minecraft Coasters

If you have been around here for any length of time, you have probably noticed that I am a big fan of colorful and nerdy decor. For example, my Perler Super Mario Coasters and Rubick's Cube Tissue Cover. So the fact that I made up a set of Minecraft coasters should come as no surprise. ;) I don't play very often but my husband and son are both big fans.

When you are working with Perler beads, remember that once you iron it, the top will become the bottom (unless you want to show the melted side) so you will need to reverse the pattern as you are working on it OR use a second tray to flip it over when you are done.

These coasters are each 16 pegs wide and tall which makes them about 3 1/4 square inches. Instead of sorting through thousands of perler beads for the right color, you can purchase single colors here: 1,000 Piece Solid Color Packs. I hot glued some felt onto the back so that they won't slip or scratch the table.. It seems to work best if you put the hot glue on the felt and then lay the coaster on top. If the hot glue dries too fast and the pieces don't want to attach, you can reactivate the hot glue by laying your coaster on a table with the felt facing up, place a piece of cotton fabric over it and heat with an iron on low heat, moving in circles until they stick together.
